There are many types of leaves or time off work to which you may be entitled. These include annual leave, public holidays, sick leave, maternity leave, adoptive leave, carer’s leave and parental leave. Leave types differs from companies to companies and can also vary from employees to employees. For ex.: a company may offer casual leave, medical leave to an employee and offers only casual leave to other employees.

Employer Zone provides facility to add different leave types to different employees. Before entitle leave, leave type must be defined in the system.

Attached image shows a form which is used to add leave types and table which lists the already added leave types. Every leave type must have a unique name. To edit a leave type, click on the 'edit' link of respective leave type and to delete a leave type, click on the 'delete' button of that leave type. Please note that deleting a leave type will delete all data related to that leave type.

These leave types are used when companies entitle leave to their employee. You can go to employee module, select an employee and click on the leave tab to get more information about employee's leave.

Leave Approval Level

The leave approval level defines how the leave should be approved. There are two fields under Leave Approval form:

  1. Leave Approval Level
  2. No of Level

Lets assume below Company Hierarchy to understand this approval level:

Leave Approval Level may be of 4 types as below:

  1. Single Level - Here all the leave requested will be forwarded only to direct parent of the employee (who has requested for the leave). For example: Leave requested by Trainee will be forwarded to Jr Developer only.
  2. Multiple Level - You need to enter No of Level field for this. If you enter 2 to Number of Level then Leave requested by any employee will be forwarded to two level. For example: Leave requested by Trainee will be forwarded to Jr Developer. If Jr Developer rejects your leave it won't be propagated any more. If he approves then only it will be forwarded to Sr Web Developer. Similarly if you put 3 to Number of Level, then leave would have been forwarded to Chief Development Officer.
  3. Last Level - Here all the leaves requested by an employee will propagate to the Last Level i.e. In above given Company Hierarchy all the leave will be forwarded till System Administrator.
  4. Designation - Here you also need to define the designation who will approve all the leaves. For example: If you define Leave Approval Designation as HR Manager, then all the leaves requested by any of the employee (regardless of their department/designation) will be forwarded to HR Manager only. HR Manager can accept/reject the leave that will be final status of the leave.
